IDC4O - Suspense Elements Video Assignment

v Conceptualization and Pre-Production

Your task is to create an approximately 2 minute short film that will showcase your understanding of suspense elements as well as dramatic structure, the use of film techniques and the first short piece you will plan, shoot and edit.

First you will try to establish an idea for how your finished product will look and resonate with the viewer. Using your extensive knowledge of suspense, filming techniques, structure, and editing you should extensively plan your shots and footage.

Your short film should tell a story of someone in the high school doing something boring(going to their locker, eating lunch, etc), and through your use of film techniques you will make this a suspenseful masterpiece! You will choose a minimum of 5 film techniques to utilize in your short film.

Make sure to complete the attached “Film Treatment” and complete detailed storyboard before starting your assignment. When you are finished this phase, show your notes to your instructor for approval.

v Production Phase

You will have a finite amount of time (2 days) in which to capture your assigned footage. Try to include both photography and video content. Also, you may wish to shoot outside of class time. Equipment can be made available for this to happen.

v Post-Production

Again, you will have a finite amount of time (1 day) in which to collate your footage from the “film footage” archive (class folder), import it into Windows Movie Maker and present a polished final product, ready for public viewing.

v Evaluation
